Our History

ClothingWorks is a not for profit organization that provides interview clothing free of charge for men, women and young adults who have a referral from a London employment counselling or training agency.

ClothingWorks began in response to the Mayor’s Anti-poverty Action Committee, 1998. Members of the committee identified a need for this type of service in London and believed the chance to build a more secure future could begin with the opportunity to present oneself at a job interview or to start a new job in clothing appropriate to the workplace.

ClothingWorks existed initially as a woman’s only store but quickly expanded its client base to include a men’s shop in 2000.

Over 750 clients are served annually through our partnerships with more than 100 London area employment-assistance agencies and organizations.
